BIOGRAPHY
Yusun Won is a Korean Ceramic artist.
Change and development, the core theme of her work, has influenced her overall art activities such as looking at ordinary objects from a new perspective and changing forms by a firing process.
Yusun studied ceramics at Kookmin University based in Seoul, South Korea, completing BFA and MFA in ceramics with distinction. (2012-19)
She completed a Master in ceramics with distinction at Cardiff Metropolitan University based in Cardiff, UK (2020-21)
She is working at Fireworks Clay Studio, Cardiff, as part of 21/22 Graduate Residency.
Yusun had the first solo exhibition at KCDF Gallery, sponsored by Korea Craft Design Foundation. She had multiple group exhibitions across South Korea and UK like Seoul, Cheong Ju, London, and Cardiff. Her work was also exhibited in Craft Trend Fair, Seoul Design Art Fair, and Art in clay.
Yusun is the winner of CICC 2019 Craft at Cheong Ju international Craft Competition and the finalist of 2021 BADA Art Award. She is the recipient of Franz Rising Star Scholarship. Also, she has actively collaborated with artists in various fields such as illustrators, designers, writers, and musicians. The results of collaboration projects were displayed at galleries or published in the Journal of the Korean Society of Ceramic Art.
Yusun’s work is in the permanent collection of Cheong Ju Craft Biennale Organizing Committee.
